The #discmaniatour 2014 kicks off! The tour starts from Scottsdale & Fountain Hills in sunny Arizona, where our young star Simon Lizotte and “Tour Captain”, 2009 World Champion Avery Jenkins will attend the Memorial Championship. Our road warriors have been equipped with the latest Discmania Gear & a brand new motor home for the long road ahead. To celebrate the start of the tour, we are offering our fans a chance to win sweet Discmania goodies. The rules are simple:
1. Spot the #discmaniatour motor home (pictured above) on tour
2. Snap a picture of the motor home
3. Post your picture to instagram with the hashtag #discmaniatour 4. Every week we pick one lucky winner to receive a surprise prize
So you may want to have your camera phone ready this weekend at the Memorial and on other locations we stop by at. The motor home will be present on all of the upcoming Deep in the Game clinics, as well as many tournaments in the Southern United States this spring.
The extremely popular series of instructional Disc Golf videos, Discmania Deep in the Game, has been the number 1 resource for all Disc Golfers looking to better their game since its inception in summer 2012. In just about 18 months the completely free videos have gathered over 450 000 views on our YouTube account. By the time these videos were published they set a new standard in production quality of any Disc Golf videos to date and still remain to be the most professional and informative set of Disc Golf technique tips available anywhere on the web.

Last summer Avery Jenkins and Discmania organized a tour of instructional clinics in selected locations around Germany & Finland. These clinics proved to be very successful and most of the clinics sold out immediately. The tour was build around the Deep in the Game theme and provided in-depth instructions for those who were lucky enough to take part. Thanks to the success of the European tour and overwhelming demand from US players, we are happy to announce the 2014 Deep in the Game US Tour.
Tour run by Disc Golf superstars
The tour will stop in all of the southern states of United States, as the stars of the tour, Avery Jenkins & Simon Lizotte, make their way throughout the US while taking part in the biggest events on the PDGA tour. Most of the tour dates have already been set with local coordinators, while some dates are still open for booking. Registration for the scheduled clinics will start next week, on the Deep in the Game Tour page.
“The response we got from Germany & Finland last year was way more than we expected. The popularity of the clinics actually made me reassess my role both as a Pro Disc Golfer and an educator of the sport”, says Avery Jenkins, the “captain” so to speak of the Deep in the Game Tour. “Disc Golf clinics are not a new invention, they’ve been around in one form or another for decades. What’s really great about the Deep in the Game clinics is that they take the concept of a Disc Golf clinic to a new level – It’s a Disc Golf clinic, reinvented”, Jenkins adds.
On the Deep in the Game US Tour, the players attending the clinics and Meet & Greets will also be able to take notes from a rising star of the Disc Golf scene – the reigning European Champion Simon Lizotte. “There’s probably no other player in the sport right now that can throw a disc as far as Simon”, says Erno Väyrynen, the co-producer of the Deep in the Game tour and Discmania Inc. Vice President. “The sheer amount of pure animal power combined with the smooth form Simon has, is a treat to the eye, no matter how good you are in this sport”, Erno continues.

More information about the tour will be posted on the Deep in the Game US Tour page as it emerges. Registration for booked clinics will start next week. For inquiries concerning the Deep in the Game US Tour, please contact avery.jenkins[at]discmania.net
We are proud to announce our support for Simon Lizotte‘s US Tour 2014. Arguably one of the most skilled Disc Golfers in Europe, the 21-year-old German phenom signed up to Team Discmania early last season and has been banking up victories around Europe ever since. Simon is well-known around the old continent and beyond from his massive drives and take-no-prisoners playing style. Definitely one of the most audience friendly players on tour, Simon will be the first real European player to take on the US tour with this magnitude.
Trained by Champions
“We are very happy to be able to send Simon on tour against the best players in the world”, says Jussi Meresmaa, the CEO of Discmania. “We are confident that with the right type of practice and support he will have what it takes to endure and succeed against the US Pros on their home soil”. Simon has already touched ground in Rancho Cugamonga, CA, where he’ll undergo an intensive training program designed by Mr. Meresmaa and Simon’s primary coach, 2009 Disc Golf World Champion Avery Jenkins.
2009 Disc Golf World Champion will be coaching Simon for life on tour.
“We are not only breaking ground by bringing the top European Pro to US tour, but also we are taking the first steps in creating a format on how sponsors should take care of their brightest stars as the sport keeps evolving” says Avery Jenkins who has been keeping an eye on the young German wunderkind ever since they first met in the European Open 2009 on Discmania’s home turf in Tampere, Finland. “Simon as player holds great potential but lacks the year-round practice facilities in his home town of Bremen, Germany” Jenkins adds.
Meresmaa and Jenkins, both very accomplished Disc Golfers themselves, have created Simon a practice regimen that consists of not only throwing exercises, but full nutritional diet and physical endurance training too. “We strongly believe that being a top-level Disc Golfer in the future will require similar physical shape to the top pros of most other sports” says Jenkins. “Skill and a good head game can only take you so far. As the sport is starting to become more popular among younger players, great physical shape and the ability to endure long rounds in varying conditions becomes even more critical to success” Meresmaa adds.
Simon is currently staying at the Discmania condo in Rancho Cugamonga and training in the warm California weather. Simon tells he has been fast to adapt to his new surroundings and has already shot 2 300+ feet aces during the first week of training in California. After completing his training season, Simon will start off his spring tour by playing the Wintertime classic in Pasadena, CA. He will also soon start blogging about his adventures here on the Discmania website. For more updates from Simon, go like Simon’s facebook page: Lizotte Disc Golf.
